Growth Topics at Mayoral Forum

Industrial Growth.

Those words don’t meet often, but they will on Oct. 19 at the Seattle mayoral candidate forum during an update on the Georgetown Crossroads project now being built by Prologis.

Upon completion in 2018, the multi-story warehouse/distribution center along East Marginal Way will provide 590,000 square feet of lease space for companies expected to employ more than 800 workers.

The development is believed the first multi-story facility of its scale in the nation. It was written up in a Wall Street Journalarticle available here. You can go on line to see a brochure with a virtual tour here.

The project will join a list of other industrial opportunities and challenges that will be covered at the forum for candidates Jenny Durkan and Cary Moon. Topics include homelessness, workforce education, permitting problems, land use and freight mobility. You can ask questions of your own during a Q&A session following statements by the candidates.

The forum will run from Noon to 1:30 pm in the main auditorium in Building C at the Georgetown Campus. Enter the campus at 6737 Corson Avenue South. Doors open at 11:30 am. Information tables and networking opportunities will abound.

A light lunch will be served. Admission is free but please RSVP to Becklynn Martin at the Manufacturing Industrial Council, becklynn@box2063.temp.domains. Questions? Call 206-762-2470.
